MILAN!

Best Blogger Tips
I was once told that we should be thankful in all circumstances. Practice gratefulness for good things like love, family, good health, birthdays, etc. Can you honestly say you'll feel thankful as well when you're trapped in difficult situation like losing someone, being ill or when you're stressed out?  The phrase "in all circumstances" doesn't actually leave out even the most baffling moments we encounter.  Most of the time when things get so frustrating, I forget the great things in life.  One thing I do to battle this is to open my file of happy thoughts and wonderful memories, hit the replay button as much as I can and it helped, it kept me alive.

This triumph that I share with Tine is of course enlisted in that same file.  I've  mentioned before, we shall be forever grateful to the people who helped us make our dream vacation a reality. Thank you Motorola Middle East for the opportunity. This is it! Eto na yun mga kapamilya, kaibigan, kachokaran, ka-berks, ka-kosa, katambay, ka-officemate, kachismisan! We are going to MILAN! You know that if I had that choice I shall bring you all with us there, but obviously we can't so to those kind hearted souls who made this possible, join us in this journey to love. As promised, it's going to be a well-documented traverse and this is just the beginning.

Waaaah! That's US!

Death CAB for CUTIE Feelingeras.

Best Blogger Tips
DISCLAIMER: This was taken on our way home after a shoot in Dubai Media City. Exaggerated arte intonation and accent used while taking the footage of mostly rantings of me and my friend Tine.  Real-time testimonials of our "death cab" experience comprises of excessive use of artey and beki languages not suitable for very young audiences, parental guidance is recommended.

Note: Footage was made to cure nausea and boredom during our trip home. It was not our intention to sound offensive, we we're just being us - our usual BUANG (crazy) selves.  GVhan lang po tayo. PEACE TO EVERYONE! :)

Happy 420.

Best Blogger Tips
4/20 at 4:20 - The truth behind the myth

What's with the figure? Most of you must be asking the same question and I know several others reading this must know the answer. So let me start this short discourse with a fact on where this popular code came from.

Wikepedia and Urban Dictionary states that this originated from a group of potheads in the 1970's calling themselves "Waldos" referring to the wall they hang out after school.  The statue of San Rafael Louis Pasteur on the grounds of San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California is where the Waldos meet at 4:20 pm everyday to get high.  At first they use "4:20 Loius" when they plan meet-ups and then it was shortened to "420", which emerged as the code used for smoking pot.

Ryan Grim of the Huffington post tracked down the group who coined the term which they learned were composed of 5 members.  They got to talk to Waldo Steve, Waldo Dave and his older brother Patrick. They confirmed their identities but requested to keep it confidential for professional reasons.  So here goes the story as narrated by the Waldo's to the Huffington post.
One day in the Fall of 1971 - harvest time - the Waldos got word of a Coast Guard service member who could no longer tend his plot of marijuana plants near the Point Reyes Peninsula Coast Guard station. A treasure map in hand, the Waldos decided to pluck some of this free bud.
The Waldos were all athletes and agreed to meet at the statue of Loius Pasteur outside the school at 4:20, after practice, to begin the hunt.
"We would remind each other in the hallways we were supposed to meet up at 4:20. It originally started out 4:20-Louis and we eventually dropped the Louis," Waldo Steve tells the Huffington Post.
The first forays out were unsuccessful, but the group kept looking for the hidden crop. "We'd meet at 4:20 and get in my old '66 Chevy Impala and, of course, we'd smoke instantly and smoke all the way out to Pt. Reyes and smoke the entire time we were out there. We did it week after week," says Steve. "We never actually found the patch."
But they did find a useful codeword. "I could say to one of my friends, I'd go, 420, and it was telepathic. He would know if I was saying, 'Hey, do you wanna go smoke some?' Or, 'Do you have any?' Or, 'Are you stoned right now?' It was kind of telepathic just from the way you said it," Steve says. "Our teachers didn't know what we were talking about. Our parents didn't know what we were talking about."
Dave is now a credit analyst for Steve who owns a lending institution.  The other 3 Waldos were also said to be triumphant in their chosen fields (head of marketing for a Napa Valley winery, the other working for printing/graphics and one as head of a roofing and gutter company).

Now we know the origin of 420 and that relatively it pertains to "Weed Day", check out how people gather for a giant smoke out every April 20th at 4:20 pm all over the globe.

Here's a coverage of the 420 celebration in Vancouver last year.

As for the weed virgin like myself, I have nothing against the Cannabis Culture. If advocates redeem relaxation, peace, redemption and good vibes in smoking pot, that's well and good. To each it's own -stick to what you think works for you. Today, in celebration of this unofficial potheads' festival, I will wear my 420 shirt and at exactly 4:20 pm today, I'll drink coffee and leave the smoking up to you. Happy 420!

"I never endorsed the use of marijuana. But hey, it worked for me," says Waldo Dave. "I'm sure on my headstone it'll say: 'One of the 420 guys.'"

Ride into the DANGER ZONE.

Best Blogger Tips
Standing on the edge of a cliff and anticipating a strong wind to blow me away - that's exactly how I felt watching the guys from Red Bull X Fighters kick off their tour for this year. It was a first for me to witness Freestyle Motocross (FMX) and yes I did expect riders to do multiple jumps with their motorcycles in the air of course. What came as a surprise though is that it's not all about doing a decent jump and landing safely that makes you an FMX superstar. When I saw the stunts - lookover, one footer, one hander, no hander, no footer, cancan and the nerve wrecking flips I just can't help but wonder where these guys bought loads and loads of bravery to even try and learn how to do these tricks.

The show lasted for about 2 hours, and the whole time I was squeezing my thighs and pinching my hand because it really took my "nervous energy" to the extremes.  Most of you know that I'm not gifted with good height, so for shows like this I've to find means to get a good view. I'd like to send my shout out to the one who invented RAILINGS! I was sitting on it for hours and I didn't feel discomfort until the end of the show, that's how engrossed I was.

I felt disheartened when we reached the Dubai Marina area because of the terrible traffic.  We can't even find  a parking space because the event was in fact held in the parking area. Then finally we found a spot, still we have to walk quite a distance to reach the venue.  When we reached the arena it started to drizzle. Great job DU (one of the event sponsors) for the umbrella giveaways, it was so useful that night.  When at last the show started, all the negative vibes were laid to rest.

I'll let the photos and video clip below tell the rest of the story, all these ranting and raving is tiring.
